Berta Collins from Mount Pleasant Centre joined us for this week’s ep to discuss what it’s like to manage the marketing for a shopping centre with over 70 stores – and how her experiences can help retailers of any size. What works and what doesn’t work when marketing in this industry? Tune in to hear more!
Berta’s main marketing recommendations for retail
Firstly, to create a marketing strategy for retail you will need to know your audience and where their interests are. Finding who is wanting to shop and what they are shopping for assists in choosing the marketing activities and audience targeting.
Secondly, learn to differentiate yourself from other organisations and your competitors. To grow your audience and customers, your marketing should reflect your brand’s values and beliefs.
And lastly, digital is the way to go! Digital marketing has shown to be an incredibly valuable resource. Having the opportunity to see your audience’s engagement levels and link clicks helps you to see what is and isn’t resonating with your target market. Bonus – digital marketing can often be amended if needed, like if you sell out! 😉
Wrap-up tip: Run your own race
Do what is best for your own business and don’t worry about anyone else. Create your strategy and stick to it.
