Working out your Meta ad spend (soundbite)

Warning: our content is super addictive.

One of the most common questions we get when we do our social media workshops (or when people come to us to run ads for them) is: What budget should I put on my Meta ad?

The answer is, infuriatingly, "it depends".

There's no one size fits all here. The main thing that should determine your ad spend, is volume of people. $100 of targeted ad spend in Sydney won't last very long. The amount of people there means that even the smaller targeting niches will use up your spend in a few hours.

However, that same spend in Mackay might last up to a week!

Okay, so where do I start then??

Make sure you use the inbuilt audience guidelines that are suggested to you in Ads Manager. As you input your timeframe, budget, location, demographics, etc, you'll get a very broad estimation of how many people your ad will reach. That should be your guidepost as to how much you spend. The more people you want to reach/the more people in your target demographic, the more money you should probably spend.

When Rebel runs ads, we find that between $400 + $600 is the sweet spot for a four week period (depending on our demographic targeting!!) for ads in the Mackay region. Your mileage will vary though, depending on your target audience.

Wrap up tip:

Run more ads! As you run more ads, you'll get a feel for how much you'll need to spend to reach the results you're looking for. As with all marketing, give it a go. Marketing is meant to be fun, after all 😉
