As the General Manager of Mackay's peak tourism body, Mackay Tourism, Tas Webber has a lot on his plate - yet he's somehow quite a chilled guy. After working with Tas and the team on the #mymackay campaign, I was really struck by how much Tas loves his job, is all for collaboration and keeps his cool under what I would consider a fair amount of pressure - so I wanted to know more...

What’s your favourite part about being a business manager? 
Implementing change, seeing results come through and making a difference to the organisation, business model and tourism industry.

What happens in a typical day for you?
It always starts with a coffee! But there is no typical day and that’s what I love about it. Every day is different and it keeps you on your toes. My role is about engaging with stakeholders and tourism operators to ensure the organisation is achieving its forward projections. It’s dynamic and fast-paced.

What do you consider the key to success?
The ability to accept feedback and be able to change is the key to success. There’s not one size fits all in any situation.

How do you stay motivated when challenges arise?
You have to look the end game; focus on the challenges but look ahead at what you want to achieve and results will be driven by that.

I used to be fit! I used to be a gym instructor and personal trainer for 10 years.
