Club celebrates milestone at Mayor’s Ball
This year’s Mayor’s Charity Ball will double as a silver anniversary celebration for the event’s coordinators – the Sunrise Rotary Club of Mackay.
President Belinda Hassan said the small but enthusiastic club continues to deliver many benefits to the local community.
“It is really an exciting time for our members and we have really focussed on providing another fun-filled night for ball goers,” she said.
The club has a long list of achievements during its 25 years, but establishing the Mayor’s Charity Ball 13 years ago remains its strongest legacy.
“It has delivered over $350,000 in much needed funds to local charities, which is a real feather in the cap for such a small club,” Ms Hassan said.
“Much of its success also is due to the wonderful support from local businesses, especially our major partner DGH Engineering.”
Adopting a Silver-Black theme for the May 6 ball, guests are encouraged to dust off their finest ball gear and lace up your dancing shoes for the gala night at the MECC.
The Luke Geiger Band will rock the crowd with an eclectic array of hits from the 70’s to now.
Ms Hassan said the gala night is an opportunity to help local charities and enjoy a wonderful night out.
“As a club, we work extremely hard to provide an atmosphere where you can relax, network and celebrate with friends,” he said.
“Last year’s ball was a sell-out and proved a major hit with guests, as we raised almost $35,000 for local charities.”
The silent auction and major live auction will again be a feature, as ball goers look to raise vital funds for local charities. This year’s beneficiaries include M & K Massi Matsi Group, Community Accommodation and Support Agency and PCYC Mackay.
There are limited tickets this year, which include a three-course meal, all-inclusive drinks package and entertainment.
Individual tickets or tables of ten can be booked at the MECC Box Office.
