Directors' Circle: Kathy Farren-Price, BB Print

I’ve worked with BB Print since I first entered the marketing industry over a decade ago, and when Kathy was one of the people who took over the reins from Roy (who was also a champion) – I couldn’t have been happier. The breadth of her integrity, her never-ending patience and the ability to seemingly never get stressed out (which is quite a feat in printing!) always astounds me. She’s also incredibly modest, which means her answers below are quite succinct – but still a very good read.

What’s your favourite part about being a business owner?

Wow, there are a few things I can think of; the flexibility of hours, being part of this great community we have and just the pride you feel being able to know that our team are local and how well they work as a team.

What’s been the steepest learning curve since starting a business?

Dealing with all kinds of personalities in staff members – but we have an awesome team now!

How do you stay motivated when challenges arise?

I love a challenge. So that in itself gets me motivated. I just hate having nothing to do.

How do you generate new ideas for the business?

I do have a creative mind but we also have brainstorm sessions with our management team.

Tell us something about yourself that is not on your LinkedIn profile?

Hmm... I travelled Australia for a year to see this great country of ours.

What are your non-work habits that help with your life-work balance?

I try and work sensible hours and have the weekend to myself with friends and family. I do try and ignore my emails coming through on my phone but I just cannot do it.

Give a shout out to three local businesses.

Kaycee at Kustom Creations - Her cakes are just amazing, you need to check them out on Facebook!

Dispensary – Well, they have nice Bacardi (lol) and food.

CQ Rescue Helicopter - Need I explain this one! They do an awesome job in our region saving lives.
