On board for marketing Mackay

Mackay Tourism Ltd (MTL) have welcomed some fresh faces to its' Board of Directors, with Mackay Airport’s Rob Porter taking on the role of Chairperson/Director.

The new Board of Directors will focus on growing tourism opportunities in The Mackay Region and will set the strategic direction, oversee finances, access risks and provide support for the organisation.

General Manager of Mackay Tourism, Tas Webber, said he was thrilled to be taking the region’s top priorities forward with the new Board and working closely with all directors to ensure work is being done to take tourism in The Mackay Region to new heights.

“Mackay Tourism Directors are champions for the region and a great source of support and expertise for the organisation,” Tas said.

“It’s certainly an exciting time to be involved in the tourism industry at the moment. Tourism operators in The Mackay Region are doing the ground work now to ensure they are trade-ready and prepared for growth in the future.”

Incoming Chairman, Rob Porter, General Manager of Mackay Airport has been an active member of the MTL Board ever since he arrived in Mackay five years ago.

“I am now honoured to have been elected as the new MTL Chairman,” Mr Porter said.

“I look forward to working with the new MTL Board line up, which includes some new faces as well as some familiar ones, to focus on marketing the amazing tourism experiences on offer in the Mackay region.”

“As we get the word out we are perfectly positioned to leverage the new TEQ “I know just the place” campaign, because we all know that place is right here in and around Mackay.”

“I also look forward to working in partnership with the other business and industry groups across Mackay to take every aspect of our region forward.

Mr Webber and Mr Porter both acknowledged outgoing Chairperson Paul O’Connor who held the position for 12 years, for his hard work, strategic direction and commitment to Mackay Tourism over a long period of time.
