CBG Partners are an accountancy firm who specialise in being independent business partners, to help their commercial customers set and achieve their business goals. They help with business planning and give high-level strategic advice, but their financial expertise means they also understand the minutiae of managing and delivering the plans – including how to make them profitable. They support companies with a huge range of projects, from implementing culture revamps to applying for grants! The company also has a rich history, dating back to the 1930s – the first female accountant in Mackay worked for the company, and they’re still producing over-achievers and trailblazers. 

Crusin’ the Coast was Sarina’s first fun run, and the first ever beach run in the Mackay region! It’s a fun, active day for the community, to get your heart rate up and take in some coastal views. Hosted and organised by Sarina Surf Lifesaving Club, with support from their major sponsor Sarina Community Bank Branch® Bendigo Bank, it’s a real community event, with the emphasis on taking part - no matter your fitness level.  

The Coral Sea Clinical Research Institute is a brand-new medical facility in Mackay providing clinical trials. It’s an important local initiative, that aims to improve the accessibility of innovative treatments outside of metropolitan centres. Currently, it’s focusing on devising a therapy for Coeliac Disease. At present there’s no treatment, beyond patients excluding gluten from their diet. Their work has the potential to make a huge difference in the lives of people dealing with a really limiting condition. CSCRI’s Dr James Daveson has a stellar reputation worldwide, and brings experience and prestige to the Institute!

GW3 is an independent economic development body representing the Mackay Isaac Whitsunday region. Ok, so that may sound like it’s a little boring – but basically, the whole purpose of this team is to help our region kick butt economically and lifestyle wise. They work in collaboration with a bunch of very important groups and people, and us! 

Hooked on Mackay is a joint project founded by Mackay Tourism and Mackay Regional Council to show off how awesome the Mackay lifestyle is and highlight it as a fishing destination. The phrase ‘Hooked on Mackay’ has been kicking around for a while now, but by further developing it into a visual brand, we’ve been able to grow its reach, and Hooked on Mackay’s key message of Mackay being Australia’s premier recreational fishing destination. 

Mackay Regional Council is our local government body. We know they keep the roads, rates and rubbish running, but beyond that it’s pretty difficult to sum up everything they do. They maintain the functioning of the Mackay region and its facilities, while also cultivating the cultural, social and economic development of the region. Their work permeates every aspect of our lives, but sadly – as the old truism goes – if they’re doing their jobs well, you don’t notice them!

In the wake of COVID-19, there have been a lot of event cancellations and postponements – sporting events, conferences, festivals, community events and more. At the current moment, the Australian Government has banned indoor events over 100 people and outdoor events over 400 people. Event organisers are having to make tough decisions on how to proceed, leaving one question – how do you let everyone know your event has been postponed or cancelled?

When you step inside the Lanai Riverside Apartments, it’s like being transported to some gorgeous coastal getaway. For as long as I can remember, there has been one woman managing the building and she wears so many hats – I’m not sure how she does it! Lucky for us, she did find a few moments to sit down and get grilled for our Directors’ Circle.

Holly is a woman of many talents, and one of the most collaborative people I have ever met. By day, she is the Marketing Manager for Vicinity Centre (which covers Mt P Shopping Centre, Whitsunday Plaza and Gympie Central), out of hours she manages multiple side projects and, most of all, she’s a Mum 24/7. Holly is also a big supporter of local community organisations, as if we needed even more reasons to like her!
